Chicago Building Collapse: At least 8 People Hurt; "My Bed Shake Like an Earthquake"

 Eight people were hurt in an apartment building explosion in South Austin on Tuesday morning.

An official from Chicago Fire Department confirmed an explosion at 9:01 AM in a four-story apartment block at 5601 W. West End Ave.

Ten ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and at least eight patients were taken to the hospital.

Loyola University Medical Center was able to transport two victims, one male and one female.

Marc Ferman, Deputy Fire Commissioner, said that one person was injured in the building across the street at that time.

The Fire Department reported that the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Chicago Police Department Bomb Unit arrived to help with the investigation and response.

Ferman stated that it is not clear how many people were left homeless.
